Film Synopsis
In the 1930s, Bajou is prepared to do anything to get on in life. Leaving his home town in south of Tunisia with his cousin Marcel, he heads for Tunis and soon finds work. War then breaks out and the Germans arrive to occupy Tunis. When the city is liberated, Bajou meets Habiba, the daughter of a village elder, and decides that she will be his wife. Scali at first refuses to give Bajou his daughter, but realising that he his prospective son-in-law is now a wealthy man he gives in to his request. Having been humiliated by Scali in the past, Bajou savours his revenge...© James Travers
