Film Synopsis

In 1959, France is still a member of NATO and 14,000 American soldiers are stationed in the town of Orléans.  Patrick, a 16-year-old boy, is fascinated by the way of life of these GIs and cannot understand why others want to see the back of them.  When he tries to prevent a communist mason from writing 'US go home' on the road, he sustains a facial injury.  Sergeant Will Caberra comes to his aid and becomes his friend, even a substitute father.  When he breaks up with his girlfriend Marie-José, Patrick falls for the daughter of another American subaltern, Trudy Wadd...
