Film Synopsis

Shortly after the war, a young Hungarian musician takes refuge in France and experiences some emotional upsets.  One day, in a state of depression, he composes a song entitled Sombre Sunday.  He takes the song to a publisher, Max, who takes an instant liking to it.  To ensure the song is a success, Max persuades a young woman named Michèle to simulate a suicide provoked by nostalgia...
