Richard Pottier was a French film director whose birth name was Ernst Deutsch. He was born in Graz, Austria-Hungary on 6th June 1906 and died in Plessis-Bouchard, Val-d'Oise, France on 2nd November 1994, aged 88.

His best films as a film director include Picpus (1943), Destins (1946), Barry (1949), Meurtres (1950) and Violettes impériales (1952), and whose best work as a screenwriter include André Cayatte's Sérénade aux nuages (1946).
